Uni-edit style guide

How pages on www.uni-edit.net look, which components to use, and what our copy may and may not say. This page is for the people who build and edit the site; it is not indexed.

Colours

Uni-edit blue is the brand colour. Use the 900 shade for headings and primary buttons on light backgrounds, and the 100 shade for text on dark backgrounds. Gold and orange are accents only: never for body text.

Typography

Poppins for Latin text, weight 500 for headings with a line height of 1.2. Chinese and Japanese fall back to the reader's system font, so keep CJK headings short and avoid half-width punctuation.

Heading 1: English editing for researchers

Heading 2: Publication support

Heading 3: Reference and citation checking

Heading 4: Certified translation

Heading 5: Thesis formatting
Heading 6: Turnaround and quotation

Most standard editing is completed in five days, including weekends. Timing depends on file condition, service level, complexity and current capacity, and the delivery date is confirmed in your detailed quotation.

Buttons, links and forms

One primary action per section. Primary buttons lead to the quote form in the reader's language; outline and text links are for secondary actions. Link text says where it goes.

Quote, contact and subscribe forms are provided by the intake embeds (/quote, /contact, /subscribe). Native Webflow forms are not connected to the intake: do not add one to a page.

Components

Use these components with Uni-edit content. Every component carries template defaults underneath, so always fill every property before publishing.

Removed on 2026-09-14: the template components (pool installs, unverifiable figures, fictional testimonials) were deleted, and the remaining components' default text is Uni-edit's. Testimonial components default to an instruction, not a quote: always paste a real, permitted customer testimonial.

Voice and claims

Warm, precise and quality-led. Write to one researcher, not to "users". Say what we do and how, not how good we are.
Terms: English says "English editing". Taiwan pages use 英文編修 (the term is under review). Japan pages use 英文校正 and 英文校閲, never 英語添削.
Never say or imply: a guaranteed publication or acceptance; that no AI is used; ISO certification or "ISO-aligned"; a comparison with a named competitor; a price or offer that is not on the pricing page.
Only with the qualifier: "most standard editing in five days" (subject to file condition, service level, complexity, capacity and quotation); "22% of papers we edited were later published" (a measured historical rate, never paired with better odds of acceptance).
No em dashes in Chinese or Japanese copy; use full-width punctuation. English may use them sparingly.

The full rules are in the claims registry maintained with the web team.

How long does editing usually take?

Most standard editing is completed in five days, including weekends. Timing depends on file condition, service level, complexity and current capacity, and the delivery date is confirmed in your detailed quotation.

I think my English is poor. Do I need the rewriting service?

If you think your paper needs rewriting, please ask customer service in your email. We will determine if rewriting is required and inform you before editing your paper. Generally, if more than 20% of sentences need rewriting (the whole sentence needs correction) then you must use the rewriting service. For rewriting, you do need to choose a Level. We will do the best editing job possible.

Who will edit my paper?

To achieve a consistently high quality service, Uni-edit uses two editor roles on your conference or journal paper. The first Editor is qualified in your general area of expertise. The second Editor is also qualified in your general area and has exceptional English and editing skills. All Editors are professionally trained. Our Senior Editor takes overall responsibility for the quality of every edit. Authors are often surprised how the Editors seem to understand the content of the research, even if it is very technical or mathematical.

I used generative AI to help write my paper. Is that a problem?

No, and it helps us if you tell us. Many journals now ask authors to declare how generative AI was used, and the wording each publisher expects is different. Let customer service know when you submit, and your editors will read the manuscript with that in mind and help you word the declaration your target journal asks for. Where AI drafted substantial passages, the Rewrite service is usually the right choice, because those passages need more than sentence-level correction. Telling us early is far easier than answering a reviewer's question later.

For a journal paper, Level 2 or Level 3 editing?

For a journal submission, Level 3 is the safer choice. Both levels put two editors on your paper, but Level 3 goes beyond language: it refines paragraph and document structure, strengthens how your argument is formed, and improves flow and consistency. That is what reviewers comment on when the science is sound but the writing gets in the way. Level 2 suits a manuscript that is already well structured and mainly needs the language corrected. If you drafted with generative AI, ask about the Rewrite service, because AI-drafted passages usually need more than sentence-level correction.

Do you check figures and tables?

Yes, our editing is not only about correct English grammar. Our English editing is about supporting you to get your paper published and help the readers understand your research. Therefore, we check figure captions and labels; information in tables and we check that text descriptions match equations. We also check the text descriptions match graphs and charts.
